In 1955, the Anndore House opened as the Anndore Hotel and Apartments. For decades, it was where the city’s more interesting personalities hung their hats. And if our walls could talk, they’d have more than a few sordid stories. It was the “it” spot in midtown Toronto, and has become the “it” spot again, but now as a boutique hotel. And according to the Globe and Mail it:

“fills the gap between the big five-star hotels and the budget chains.”

We could have razed the building completely and started fresh. But part of what makes the hotel special is its mid-20th-century architecture. With all the new builds in the area, it stands alone.

Inside, if you look closely, you’ll see pieces of the original apartment design, like the iron railings and terrazzo staircases. And if you put your hands on them and close your eyes, you can almost feel the building’s history in your soul.

Experience the Anndore House for yourself.
